Three Words to Remember

I WISH I RELEASED THIS WAY OF THINKING EARLIER (much earlier)…

“You’re not enough.”

Though no one said this to me directly when I first dove into all things healing and wellness, a feeling of inadequacy slowly crept in. I’d encountered so many trainings, certifications, programs, and developmental opportunities, it was hard not to feel like I was lacking. Every course had another layer or level that felt just beyond my reach - if I was a yoga teacher with 200 hours of training, I was missing the 500 hour certification.  If I was Reiki Level I, I was missing Reiki Levels II and III.

No one was doing anything wrong. Many trainings, including Reiki, are thoughtfully and intentionally tiered for the benefit of the student. And, I’m thankful to have learned from loving, talented, and supportive teachers. Admittedly, part of my feelings of unworthiness were certainly my own personal stumbling block (textbook over-thinker, here).

I felt (and sometimes still feel like) like I was Sisyphus with my eternal boulder of trying to do more, achieve more, and accomplish more. And, staring at a sudden tidal wave of online courses quickly launched in 2020, I often felt obligated to sign up for every training possible.

It is empowering to keep learning and developing.  I’m a forever student, eager to learn and expand. But, it’s even more empowering to understand that development and growth should compliment the you that is already whole and complete.

…AND EMBODIED THIS INSTEAD

“YOU ARE ENOUGH.”

I wish someone had said this to me when I first dove into all things healing and wellness. “You are enough, and there’s no pressure to do or be more. You are enough, and this training is meant to reveal your innate gifts.  You are enough, and I’m holding space on your journey.”

I center my Reiki trainings around this idea: you are enough, and Reiki - or any other modality - should increase your confidence, not strip it away.

I hope you remember your worth, especially in difficult times.
